Sustainability/Green Schools

At St. Fergal’s College, we are committed to promoting sustainability and environmental awareness across our school community. We believe that small actions taken every day can make a big difference, and we encourage students to take responsibility for caring for the environment both in school and beyond.

A key feature of our sustainability efforts is our school greenhouse, which provides students with the opportunity to learn about growing plants, food production, and biodiversity in a practical, hands-on way. It is used across subjects and projects, linking science, wellbeing, and sustainability, while also encouraging healthy living and an appreciation for the natural world.

Our Green Schools Committee works actively to raise awareness of environmental issues such as recycling, energy conservation, reducing waste, and promoting greener habits within the school. Through workshops, campaigns, and student-led initiatives, we aim to build a culture of care and responsibility that reflects our values as a community.

Sustainability is more than a programme at St. Fergal’s College, it is a mindset we seek to instil in all our students, helping them to become environmentally responsible citizens of the future.
