STEAM Club

At St. Fergal’s College, our STEAM Club brings together students interested in Podcasting, Minecraft Design, Robotics, LEGO Mindstorms and Coding. These hands-on activities help students build creativity, technical skills, teamwork, and problem-solving abilities, all in a fun and collaborative setting.

Recent Highlights & Competition Success

  • Our STEAM team recently won first prize (April 2025) in the Podcasting strand of the LOETB STEAM Showcase. Their “On the Ball” podcast was praised for its quality and creativity.
  • We were also runners-up in the Minecraft Education design category (April 2025), where students created an innovative youth facility project.

These successes are a credit to our students’ creativity and hard work, and they reflect the enthusiasm and dedication our STEAM Club brings to each project.

Partnership with Laois County Council

St. Fergal’s College is a proud participant in the LOETB S.T.E.A.M. Programme, a regional initiative supported by Laois County Council. Through this initiative, our students receive access to STEAM equipment, training, and mentoring, which help strengthen their skills in coding, engineering, digital storytelling, and design.

Laois County Council’s support means that our students have the chance to take part in competitions, showcase events, and learning activities that stretch beyond the traditional classroom, helping them to engage more deeply with STEAM and digital skills.
